This landmark series sees the ever popular Kevin McCloud embark on an epic journey around Europe following in the footsteps of the most notorious aristocrats, artists and architects of 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, as he explores the 'Grand Tour'. Clambering amongst the greatest buildings, ruins and cities in Europe (Paris, Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples, Athens and Istanbul), he will uncover the dark underbelly of the Tour in the shady alleys and drinking dens along its route, and explore the Tour’s lasting legacy.
“This series was scored by a British composer called Matthew Cracknell who succeeded in making music so perfectly aligned with the show's content that without it, the programme would seem incomplete. He borrows sounds from different periods in music and turns them into themes that carry the documentary from country to country” – Music Without Words
